Two Christian events are coming up in York

Please consider joining in, and help us to spread the word about:

  • Good Friday Ecumenical Witness and Worship (30 March)
  • Northern Scripture Festival (12 May)

Good Friday

Christians from different churches across York and the region will gather for the annual act of Ecumenical Witness and Worship on Good Friday, 30th March 2018.

A walk of witness will begin at 6.45pm from the centre of Parliament Street. We will carry a cross through the streets of the city, pausing twice for prayer. We will process to the Minster for the Ecumenical Service at 7.30pm. The service (which lasts about an hour) takes as its focus the descent of Jesus's body from the cross and laying in the tomb.

All are welcome to either parts of the event, or both.

This is organised by Churches Together in York and York Minster.

Northern Scripture Festival

On 12th May 2018 a celebration of God's Word in the Bible is being held in York at All Saints School (lower site).

The aim is to help Christians to know more about the Bible, and to encounter God's Word in new and dynamic ways.

Through talks, workshops, exhibitions, and worship, Festival-goers will see the Holy Scriptures in a whole new light.

The Festival is rooted in the Catholic tradition, but is open to all Christians.

Churches Together in York has been asked to publicise this exciting event. To find out more:
